BACK TO OTHER TRIPS

Nez Perce Forest

august 9

It rained all night and into the morning, a welcome change from the heat and smoke. We left the family and started our 3-day backcountry trip on the Selway River Trail.

The family next to our site had a ADORABLE dog, Crickers, who came to visit often :)

The 16 year old grandson of the family, Max, carved these hiking poles for us. He was the sweetest, smartest, most interesting kid I have met. Generous and kind. Loved hanging out with us.

The Forest Service campgrounds along the river are very rustic and barely filled.

Smokey skies…

It was hot and smokey so we found a cool beach site and spent a few hours by the river.

I tried and failed to make a basket :(

Aaron tried and succeeded in making a tarp shelter.

Toooo hot to be out in that powerful sun, but a river right there to cool you off.
