BACK TO OTHER TRIPS

Nez Perce Forest

august 6

The night before there was a FIERCE thunder and lightning storm. It was scary! And mostly without rain, which is the scariest of all storms when you’re in the forest. I didn’t get much sleep. The thunder was downright poetic. Like some kind of soundtrack of the gods. Shudder.

When I woke up to make coffee, there was a hail storm! It was really cool, also accompanied by thunder. But when it’s light out it’s less scary.

We decided to go to a small 7-site Forest Service campground the next day, next to a lot of trails we could walk to. It was lovely! VERY well spaced sites, you couldn’t hear or see anyone. And the backyard is the river.

Let’s hear it for Aaron… Always collecting and filtering our water from rivers and creeks everywhere. A constant job!

Could I live here? I could get used to this.

Still working on the basket…
